This GoHighLevel alternative comparison is for a service business choosing its own CRM. GateKeeperAI does not provide agency account management or resale tools. HighLevel, sold at gohighlevel.com, is a large marketing platform that agencies run for many clients, though its $97 Starter plan is also pitched at smaller businesses and solo marketers. GateKeeperAI is a CRM for calls, web forms, website chat and Facebook and Instagram lead ads, from $40 a month, plus an AI receptionist plan. This comparison is published by GateKeeperAI. HighLevel details come from its own pages, checked October 2, 2026.
What HighLevel is and who it is built for
HighLevel calls itself an AI powered business operating system, and its pricing page is written for agencies. Starter is $97 a month with 3 sub accounts. Unlimited is $297 with unlimited sub accounts. Agency Pro is $497 and adds SaaS Mode, which lets an agency resell HighLevel under its own brand. Every plan includes unlimited contacts and users. The feature list covers a website and funnel builder, CRM and pipelines, email marketing, booking calendars, workflows, social media, reputation management, payments, courses and communities. Its home page says it was built by marketers, for marketers.
When HighLevel is the better pick
- You run a marketing agency and manage many client businesses from one login. HighLevel prices around sub accounts, and Agency Pro lets you resell it under your brand. GateKeeperAI has no agency or reseller mode.
- You want your website and sales funnels in the same tool as your contacts. GateKeeperAI gives you web forms and website chat for a site you already have, and does not build the site.
- You run email campaigns, sell courses or memberships, or invoice from your CRM. Those are on HighLevel’s feature list and not part of GateKeeperAI.
- You want a large team in the software at a flat price. HighLevel includes unlimited users; GateKeeperAI includes 2 seats on Capture and 5 on Operate.
- You want to build and tune your own AI voice agent, including outbound calls. HighLevel's Voice AI agents handle inbound and outbound calls, and you configure them yourself.
Where GateKeeperAI is different as a GoHighLevel alternative
HighLevel combines CRM, marketing tools and configurable voice agents. GateKeeperAI keeps the CRM to the calls and leads one business works each day. On the CRM plans, a business number rings through to your phone; callers hear a short recording notice before a forwarded call connects, and the call is recorded, transcribed and written up as a lead next to your forms, chat and lead ads. Operate adds booking pages, Google Calendar sync, stage change emails and a Google review inbox: replies to 4 star and up reviews are written by the AI and posted automatically, and replies under 4 stars arrive as a draft you approve.
On the AI Receptionist plan, the AI answers, asks your intake questions, books the appointment and transfers the caller to your team during business hours. You do not build the agent. We write the intake questions with you on the setup call, and you approve them before the AI takes a call.
Pricing compared
The CRM alone: $40 against $97
If you answer your own phone, Capture is $40 a month, or $480 over twelve months. HighLevel Starter is $97 a month, or $970 on the annual plan. Operate is $75 a month.
An AI answering the calls
Assume a home services company with 100 calls a month at 3 minutes each, so 300 AI talk minutes. These are example assumptions, not a measured average. HighLevel’s figures come from its AI product pricing article.
| Option | Arithmetic | Published charges |
|---|---|---|
| HighLevel Starter, AI pay per use | 300 × ($0.045 + $0.015) = $18; $97 + $18 | $115, plus tokens and phone charges |
| HighLevel Starter plus AI Employee Growth | 200 extra minutes × $0.06 = $12; $97 + $50 + $12 | $159, plus tokens and phone charges |
| HighLevel Starter plus AI Employee Unlimited | $97 + $97 | $194, plus phone charges |
| GateKeeperAI AI Receptionist (assumes the $200 starting monthly price and setup from $250) | 300 minutes is inside the 500 included | From $200, plus setup from $250 in month one (from $450) |
HighLevel’s rows run from $115 to $194, under our $200 starting price, but none is a full bill. Model tokens are added on pay per use and past the Growth minutes, and $0.015 is the OpenAI voice rate; ElevenLabs V3 is listed at $0.17 a minute. Phone system charges apply to all calls, at Twilio’s rates per HighLevel’s phone billing guide, and its pricing page notes usage fees may apply during the free trial. You build the agent yourself, or buy optional setup assistance for $1,000 from their pricing guide. Our setup fee covers your intake questions, business hours, transfer numbers and team training. Past our 500 minutes, talk time is $0.35 a minute. More on minutes in what an AI receptionist costs at your call volume.
Confirm which calls are billable
- Which HighLevel AI option suits my volume: pay per use, AI Employee Growth or Unlimited?
- Which voice and model will my agent use, and what do they add per minute and in tokens?
- What will phone system charges add for my number and minutes?
- Past the included minutes, does the AI keep answering or stop at a limit I set? Ask us the same about our $0.35 overage.
HighLevel’s AI pricing article says that past the included minutes the AI either keeps running or stops at your spending limit. Our terms are on the GateKeeperAI pricing page: cancel from billing settings, and your data stays readable in the dashboard.
How to switch, or run both
You could keep HighLevel for the website, funnels and email, and use GateKeeperAI for the phone line and call pipeline. We do not list an integration with HighLevel, so decide which one holds the customer list you work daily. To test, start a 14 day trial on Capture or Operate, card at signup, keep HighLevel live, and route one source of calls or leads to GateKeeperAI for a week. For plumbing, HVAC or electrical, the home services page shows how the intake questions read.
