A Rosie AI alternative only makes sense if you want something Rosie does not do, because Rosie costs less than we do. Its pricing page starts at $49 a month, and you set it up yourself. GateKeeperAI's AI receptionist starts at $200 a month with a setup fee, and it comes with a full CRM. The question is whether you need a phone answered or a place to run every lead.

We make GateKeeperAI, so read this with that in mind. Every Rosie detail below links to the Rosie page it came from.

What Rosie is and who it suits

Rosie is an AI answering service for small businesses. It trains itself from your website and Google Business Profile, you confirm the details and add FAQs, and then you forward your calls to it. Their home page says it learns your business in minutes. You keep your existing number and forward to a Rosie number, either all the time or only when you are busy or do not pick up, according to their call forwarding guide.

The plans differ in minutes and in what the AI may do on a call:

  • Professional, $49 a month: 250 minutes, message taking, spam filtering, website chat, and a booking link sent to the caller.
  • Scale, $149 a month: 1,000 minutes, booking straight onto your calendar, and live transfers, warm or cold.
  • Growth, $299 a month: 2,000 minutes, waterfall transfers that try several numbers, custom training documents and an onboarding specialist.

Their pricing FAQ puts calendar integrations on Scale and higher, and their transfer guide says transfers need Scale or Growth. If you want the AI to book and transfer, the Rosie price to compare is $149, not $49.

When Rosie is the better pick

Rosie costs less, and it may fit better if you already run a supported CRM. It is also the better pick when:

  • Your budget is under $200 a month. Rosie's Professional plan at $49 answers calls and takes messages. Our cheapest plan with an AI on the phone is $200.
  • You want to set it up yourself without a call. Rosie is built to be configured by you, and their post on virtual receptionist pricing says no credit card is required for the trial. Our AI receptionist starts with a setup call.
  • You already run Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceM8, HubSpot or another tool on their list. Their CRM integrations page says Rosie logs calls and creates new customers in those tools on every plan. A second CRM would mean two places to check.
  • Many of your callers speak Spanish. Rosie's pricing page lists English and Spanish on every call.
  • Your leads come through Facebook and Instagram messages rather than lead ad forms. Their Messenger and Instagram guide says Rosie answers those DMs on every plan.

How GateKeeperAI differs as a Rosie AI alternative

Rosie is built to write calls into a CRM you already pay for, from Jobber to HubSpot. GateKeeperAI ships its own CRM, and the AI receptionist writes into that.

The pipeline comes with it

The AI Receptionist plan includes everything in our Operate plan: contacts, a drag and drop pipeline, tasks, web forms, website chat, and Facebook and Instagram lead ads delivered as they come in. A call the AI takes becomes a lead card in the same pipeline. Without a CRM today, that is one subscription instead of two. See the GateKeeperAI CRM page.

Google reviews in the same place

Operate and the AI Receptionist plan pull your Google reviews into one inbox. Replies to 4 star and up reviews are written by the AI and posted automatically. Reviews under 4 stars arrive as a draft you approve. Our guide on how to answer Google reviews explains that split.

Intake questions written together on a setup call

Rosie trains from your website and Google profile, you customize its FAQs and messages in the admin, and Growth adds a dedicated onboarding specialist. Our setup works through a call. We write your intake questions with you, set your business hours and transfer numbers, and you approve the questions before the AI takes a call. Setup starts at $250. The AI receptionist page shows what the AI does on a call.

Pricing compared at 600 minutes a month

Take a two truck plumbing or HVAC shop with 600 talk minutes a month that wants the AI to book jobs and transfer urgent callers. On Rosie that means Scale. Assumes GateKeeperAI's $200 starting monthly price and setup from $250. 600 minutes sits inside Scale's 1,000, so Rosie's overage rules do not apply.

One month at 600 talk minutes, monthly billing, list prices as of October 2, 2026
GateKeeperAI AI ReceptionistRosie Scale
Plan price$200$149
Minutes included5001,000
Overage100 × $0.35 = $35$0
Monthly total$235$149
One time setupFrom $250None listed
First year$235 × 12 + $250 = $3,070$149 × 12 = $1,788

Rosie is $1,282 cheaper in year one on these numbers, and their page says paying annually gets two months free, which widens the gap. The difference buys the CRM, forms, lead ads, review inbox and booking pages. If you already pay for a CRM, add that bill to Rosie's column and compare again. For how call volume moves the math, see what an AI receptionist costs at your call volume, and our pricing page lists every plan.

What to ask Rosie, and us, before you sign

  1. If I go over my minutes, what exactly am I billed? Rosie's pricing FAQ, under "What happens if I go over my minutes?", says you get warning emails, then move up to the next plan at its standard price until you switch back. Their pricing blog post describes the same upgrade. We bill $0.35 a minute past 500.
  2. What happens to the bill if I cancel mid month? Rosie's cancellation article says you keep access to the end of the billing cycle and are charged for any minute overages that month. That reads differently from the upgrade rule, so ask which one applies to your account.
  3. If I pay annually and then go over, how is the move to the next plan charged?
  4. Do I need Growth for the transfers I want, or does Scale cover them?

On GateKeeperAI you cancel any time from billing settings, and your data stays readable in the dashboard.

How to switch, or run both for a while

Rosie works by forwarding your existing number, and GateKeeperAI comes with its own business number. Ask on the setup call how calls to the number on your truck will reach us. A sensible order:

  1. Write down the questions Rosie asks today and the transfer numbers you use. They become the starting point for your intake on our setup call.
  2. Keep Rosie answering while we set up. Nothing changes for callers until you move the forward.
  3. Point your calls at GateKeeperAI.
  4. Cancel Rosie once you have seen a week of calls land in the pipeline.

You could also keep Rosie on the phone and use Capture for forms, website chat and lead ads, at $40 a month, then key in the call leads that matter. That is more manual work, but it costs less than the AI Receptionist plan. Trades owners can see how this fits on the home services page.

Questions owners ask

Is GateKeeperAI cheaper than Rosie?

Rosie has the lower starting price and costs less in our 600 minute example. Rosie starts at $49 a month and its Scale plan, the one with calendar booking and transfers, is $149. Our AI Receptionist plan starts at $200 a month plus setup from $250, and includes a full CRM.

Which Rosie plan books appointments and transfers calls?

Scale at $149 a month and Growth at $299. Professional takes messages and sends the caller a booking link. Waterfall transfers that try several numbers are Growth only, according to Rosie's help center.

Do I need a new phone number?

Not with Rosie, which has you forward your existing number to a Rosie number. GateKeeperAI comes with a business number, and we go over how your current number fits on the setup call.

Can I use Rosie and GateKeeperAI together?

Yes. Rosie can answer the phone while our Capture plan at $40 a month holds your forms, website chat and lead ads. Rosie's CRM integrations page does not list GateKeeperAI, so plan on moving call details over by hand.
