Count both your distinct callers and your talk minutes before comparing these plans. Goodcall charges per AI agent with unlimited minutes, and each plan includes an allowance of unique callers a month, with $0.50 for each additional caller past it. GateKeeperAI, the Goodcall alternative compared here, starts its AI receptionist at $200 a month with 500 talk minutes and the full CRM included. This comparison is published by GateKeeperAI. Every Goodcall detail below comes from Goodcall's own pages, checked on October 2, 2026.
What Goodcall is and who it suits
Goodcall is a self serve AI phone agent. You link your CRM, calendar and knowledge base, set up skills and flows in their dashboard, and get a Goodcall number in the area code you choose. Their how it works page describes the agent answering 24/7, capturing leads and booking appointments, either answering first or after staff get a chance to pick up.
Plans on their pricing page are priced per agent. Starter is $79 a month with an allowance of 100 unique customers, Growth is $129 with 250, and Scale is $249 with 500. Each additional unique customer is $0.50. The annual toggle is labeled 15% off and shows $66, $108 and $208 a month. Higher plans add team members, logic flows and longer history: Starter keeps 7 days of call and customer details, Growth 30 days, and Scale has no limit.
How the unique customer model behaves
Goodcall counts a unique customer as a caller with a distinct phone number who actually speaks to the agent in a given month. Their pricing FAQ says a client who calls ten times from the same number counts once, call length never adds a charge, and robocalls, blocked numbers and callers who say nothing do not count.
So the bill depends on how many different people call, not how long they talk. Repeat callers and long conversations cost nothing extra. A business with many first time callers, such as one running ads, uses up the allowance faster.
GateKeeperAI works the other way: 500 talk minutes a month, then $0.35 a minute, no matter how many different people call. Our breakdown of what an AI receptionist costs at your call volume walks through that math.
Monthly cost at 200 calls from 160 callers
Assumes GateKeeperAI's $200 starting monthly price and setup from $250. Other assumptions: 200 answered calls a month, from 160 different phone numbers, averaging 3 minutes each, billed monthly, one location and one agent. These are illustration numbers, not data from either company's customers.
| Goodcall | GateKeeperAI | |
|---|---|---|
| Base plan | Starter, $79 with an allowance of 100 unique customers | AI Receptionist, from $200 for 500 minutes |
| Usage | 160 callers, so 60 past the allowance | 200 calls × 3 minutes = 600 minutes, so 100 over |
| Overage | 60 × $0.50 = $30 | 100 × $0.35 = $35 |
| Monthly total | $109 | $235 |
| One time | Not listed on their pricing page | Setup from $250 |
At this volume Starter with overage ($109) is cheaper than moving up to Growth ($129). GateKeeperAI comes to $235 a month, which includes the CRM and unlimited seats. If calls ran 6 minutes on average instead of 3, GateKeeperAI would use 1,200 minutes and cost $445 (700 × $0.35 = $245 over the base), while the Goodcall bill would stay at $109.
When Goodcall is the better pick
- Your calls run long. Minutes are unlimited on every Goodcall plan, so a 15 minute call costs the same as a 1 minute call.
- Most of your calls come from the same customers. A regular who calls ten times in a month counts once on Goodcall, while every one of those minutes counts on ours.
- You want the lowest entry price. Starter is $79 a month, and the annual toggle shows $66, against our floor of $200.
- You want to configure the agent yourself. Goodcall is built for you to set up skills and flows in their dashboard.
- You already run a CRM you like. Goodcall connects to it through Zapier, which their pricing page says is built into the app.
- You run several locations. Their FAQ says there is no limit on agents, so each location can have its own, priced per agent.
- Security requirements matter to you. Goodcall's homepage lists SOC2 Type II, ISO27001 and HIPAA.
Where GateKeeperAI differs
Goodcall keeps call and customer details for 7 days on Starter and 30 days on Growth, so on those plans the lasting record of who called has to live in a CRM you connect through Zapier. On GateKeeperAI, calls the AI answers land in the CRM pipeline that comes with the plan, next to your web forms, website chat and lead ads, and your data stays readable in the dashboard even after the subscription ends.
Setup is done with you instead of in a dashboard. On the setup call we write your intake questions together and set your business hours and transfer numbers, and you approve the questions before the AI takes a call. For a plumber, that puts the address, the problem and whether water is still running on the lead card. Our home services page shows an example. It asks your questions and books the appointment on every call, day or night. During business hours it can also do a live transfer when a caller needs a person.
On Operate and up, replies to 4 star and up reviews are written by the AI and posted automatically, and reviews under 4 stars arrive as a draft the owner approves. Goodcall's pricing page does not list a review feature.
Confirm which callers are billable
- How many different numbers called you last month, and how many total minutes? The first number prices Goodcall, the second prices us.
- If you have more than one location, does each additional agent carry its own price and its own allowance of unique customers?
- On the plan you are quoting, how long are call and customer details kept, and where do they go after that?
- Can your current number be ported in? Goodcall's help center says porting in is not supported, while their local numbers page answers "Of course!" to the same question, so get the answer from Goodcall in writing.
Moving to a Goodcall alternative or running both
Goodcall's pricing FAQ recommends conditional call forwarding from your current carrier when your number matters to your brand. Set up that way, your main number stays with your carrier, so switching means changing where the forwarding points. If you published the Goodcall number instead, ask Goodcall what happens to it when you cancel.
You can also try the CRM side first. Capture is $40 a month and Operate is $75, both with a 14 day free trial with a card at signup, and either can run your web forms, website chat and lead ads while Goodcall keeps answering the phone. We do not list an integration with Goodcall. Our pricing page lists every plan, and our guide on an AI receptionist versus an answering service covers the choice between AI and people.
